Paint Protection Film

Protect the Finish You Paid a Premium For.

Stone chips, road grime, acid rain and bird droppings don't care what the car cost. Paint protection film is the layer between your finish and everything the road throws at it.

Why Protect a Finish You've Already Paid For

Factory paint on a premium car, or a fresh full colour change, is exposed to exactly the same stone chips, road grime, bird droppings and UV as any other vehicle on the same road. PPF is the layer that stands between that finish and the road, keeping it looking the way it did on day one for years, not months.

What PPF Actually Does

Paint protection film is a clear, self-adhesive layer applied over the paintwork. A good one is optically clear, so it doesn't change how the vehicle looks. It resists the everyday stuff, gravel chips, acid rain, oxidation, bird droppings, and the better films in this category are self-healing: light scratches and swirl marks disappear on their own with heat from the sun or hot water. Many modern films also carry a built-in top-coat that makes dirt and water cling less, so the vehicle stays cleaner for longer between washes.

Different areas of a vehicle take different levels of punishment. Bumpers and lower panels catch far more direct impact than a bonnet or roof, so a proper install uses a thicker, higher-impact film on those high-exposure zones and a standard-weight film elsewhere, rather than one film everywhere regardless of what it's protecting.

Hexis Bodyfence vs XPEL, a Fair Comparison

These are the two names that come up most in this market. Both are genuinely good films. Here's how they actually compare, not marketing copy from either side:

FactorHexis Bodyfence XXPEL Ultimate Plus
Self-healingActivates at ambient temperatureTypically needs heat, hot water or direct sun
Thickness~6.5 mil standard, 8.3 mil in the BodyfenceXTRM high-impact option~8 mil standard
ClarityOften praised for optical clarityCan show a slight "orange peel" texture depending on the paint
Hydrophobic finishBuilt into the top-coat from the factoryUsually needs an added ceramic coating to match
WarrantyLifetime on Bodyfence X, when applied by an accredited installerLifetime or long-term, brand dependent
Typical priceCompetitive baselineOften 15 to 25 percent more for an equivalent install

The Film Matters. The Installer Matters More.

A good film badly installed still fails, bubbling, lifting edges, visible seams in the wrong places. A film applied by someone who actually knows the material, the surface prep, and the vehicle will outlast a better-rated film put on carelessly, every time. If you're weighing up a PPF quote, the installer's own track record deserves as much scrutiny as the film's spec sheet. We've written a separate guide on exactly what to check, how to vet a qualified installer, worth a read before you book anyone.

Installed by an Accredited Partner, Backed by a Lifetime Warranty

Hexis is explicit about this: Bodyfence X only carries its lifetime warranty when it's been applied by an accredited Bodyfence installer, that accreditation isn't a nice-to-have, it's the condition. Our installation and training partner is an accredited Hexis Bodyfence installer, so PPF work booked through Capital Branding carries that lifetime warranty on the film itself, not just a shorter standard term.

Why We Favour Pre-Cut Kits

For most PPF work we use pre-cut kits, templates cut to the exact panel shapes for the vehicle, rather than hand-cutting film on-site. It costs a little more in setup, and it's worth it: a pre-cut kit means the outcome doesn't depend on a hand-cut line being perfect on the day. Even on an installer's off day, the paint underneath is still covered correctly. It's a consistency safeguard, not a shortcut.

Straight Answer

It's Not Just Paint, It's the Finish You Paid For

Whether it's factory paint on a new car or a full colour change you've just had done, the logic is the same. You paid once to get the finish right. PPF is what stops you paying again sooner than you should have to.
